I need ear plugs...
The scream.. the HIGH PITCHED scream is SO ear piercing!! When Hunter gets upset he now SCREAMS so loudly and high pitched its amazing that he doesn't shatter glass (or make a bird explode like Princess Fiona). Really hoping it's a faze and passes soon!! I know it's age appropriate but he takes it to a new level. (Thats what autism does in many situations, it just intensifies typical behavior). That can be very good sometimes and sadly sometimes it's very hard... oh so hard!!

Yes! That is EXACTLY what autism does! I hadn't quite been able to put my mind on the phrasing until I read your post just now. My 2 year old has ASD (as does my husband and my brother). We live far from family and friends and so most of them don't see M very often, if at all since his dx a year ago. I hear way too often "oh, all 2 year olds do that," when I'm trying to explain some of M's behavior (like his out of control tantrums). It drives me up the wall because they are basically saying they don't think he has autism. I have struggled with how to explain the difference to them, but I'm going to use your explanation of autism intensifying typical behavior now. :)
